Growing Old is compulsory, Growing up is Optional

In collaboration with the Upasana Society NGO, I visited Ishaprema Niketan NGO in Pune. One question that kept playing in my mind before the visit was, Would the people present there be happy to see me and what would be the topic of our conversation?

And as soon as I reached there, I got all my answers. The inmates were very hospitable and friendly, and they welcomed me with their beautiful smiles.

Old age is also called the second childhood, and is a time when one needs love and care. After spending a few hours with them I realised that they do not need money and luxuries in life but just someone to spend time with them.

As it is rightly said, “Getting old is compulsory but growing up is optional”. I got to see a small child in each one of them who wanted someone to share their joys and sorrows. If you ever have some free time at your disposal do visit a nearby Old age home and try to bring smiles on their faces.

Some of the videos and photographs during my visit to the NGO are given below:

Cooking is Love made Edible

The main reason why I started to learn cooking was because when You Cook Your Own Food, You Know Exactly What You’re Eating. Being the only daughter in the family I was expected to know cooking and so my mother used to teach me different delicacies.

As it is rightly said, β€œEating is a necessity but cooking is an art”.

The more I started learning and enjoying the process of making food, I realised that no matter how hard and precise I got with my measurements and ingredients, I still couldn’t be as good as my Mom. Over a period of time I just realised that it is not about competing with her but to learn as much as possible from her.

As time passed by, I was able to make a wide variety of dishes without much effort. Thus being consistent with your cooking helps drastically improve the taste of the food that you prepare.

To me, it’s not whether or not you can cook; it’s whether or not you have the desire, the confidence and the inspiration to do so.

If you have those traits, learning to cook, or improving the cooking skills you already have, can be a very tasty experience.

Soon I started to learn cooking from my friends, relatives and even youtube. Over a period of time, I got to know that each one has a speciality which he/she can cook without much efforts and the taste is heavenly.

This gave me a boost to learn different types of dishes from different people to add variety to the food I was cooking. During this journey of mine I realised that one doesn’t have to be a renowned chef to showcase this art of theirs.

As I started to learn new recipes from different individuals, I got to know that, β€œA recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to the recipe”.

To showcase the art of cooking from different individuals who need not be renowned chefs but have their own special way of cooking delicious food, I started this blog and youtube channel.

Plank it up

Being a freelancer, I just realized that I need to take some time out for my health. Health being totally neglected was also one of the reasons for me diving into being a freelancer. Working in the corporates for 7 years, I realized that my core muscles had completely gone for a toss. I started walking and jogging to start off with but soon understood that my core muscles were giving up even though my stamina increased.

I did some research online to find out that plank is one of the best exercises one can do for your core as it builds strength to help sculpt your waistline and improve your posture. The reason why I got more inclined towards it was because the form is very straightforward. I also realized that it works for your hamstrings, supports proper posture, and improves balance.

Even though the form is straightforward, holding the position for long takes strength and endurance in your abs, back, and core. I understood in my first few tries that I will have to do it regularly to stay in the position for more than a minute. With the little experience I have got while doing it, your goal should be to hold it for two minutes.
